Last year on the day before Thanksgiving I dislocated my kneecap (and then Alex had his second hernia surgery).
Exactly two years ago today I posted about Johnny’s most recent back episode flare up. For some strange reason, we felt like THIS was our year to have a nice happy, healthy, peaceful Thanksgiving!
But man, we should have learned our lesson…
This morning Johnny moved wrong and ended up in intense pain on the floor. I knew immediately by the tone of his yell what had happened.
We initially thought it wasn’t too bad so we made an appointment with a doctor and called my friend Heather to watch the kids. (oh Heather… thank you, thank you…)
As I tried to get Johnny up to go, I quickly realized that our plan wasn’t going to work and I needed to call 911.
Five firemen had to haul him down the stairs strapped to a chair. I’ve never seen him in so much pain and it was heartbreaking!
In the ER they pumped him full of drugs and sent us home.
Wednesday he gets to see the spine specialist and we hope that it will be a quick recovery. Hope!
Happy Thanksgiving Folks!!

Oh, Johnny...
Oh no!!! Not again! I'm so sorry to hear.
I saw first hand how much pain the poor guy was in, but when I saw the pictures, my first thought was, "Man, that's going to hurt when they rip off the tape off of his arm hair!" :) If only that were the worst part of his day! So sorry!
Russ family! I miss you!
Get better soon Johnny!!
Poor guy! I'm sure the kids were worried seeing their Dad in an ambulance. Darn it!
As they were loading him in the ambulance, I would have said to the kids, in a calm serious voice, "I hope he doesn't die" and then went back in the house.
(Robert is terrible) I can't believe he did it again. I am so sorry! Have fun with the hubby on the couch for who knows how long! Just a couple of days, I'm sure.
I saw his face last time an ambulance had to haul him away, and it is hard to imagine him being in worse pain. I just wish I could have been there to watch your kids again!
Ahhhhh!!! You know, I think our ghetto piano was primarily responsible for Johnny's back. I'M SO SORRY!!! Wish we were there to help out. Good luck over there!!
